Dr Ammar Alhasso
Mr Ammar Alhasso brings extensive expertise in urology to the Waterfront Private Hospital team, having gained comprehensive experience through the East Scotland Urology Training Scheme. He currently serves as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at both the Western General Hospital and Borders General Hospital, where he provides general urology services and specialises in female urology, urodynamics, and reconstructive urology.
Mr. Alhasso completed his research fellowship at Imperial College School of Medicine, University of London, focusing on bladder cancer, and earned a Master’s degree in Surgical Sciences in 2000. He is an active contributor to the field of urology, serving as a reviewer for the Cochrane Collaboration/Incontinence Group and publishing systematic reviews and meta-analyses on urinary incontinence in men and women. He is also a member of the International Continence Society, the European Association of Urology, and the British Association of Urological Surgeons.
Dedicated to training and education, Mr. Alhasso is Associate Editor for BJUI Knowledge in Reconstructive Urology. He also leads the Urology module for the online ChM postgraduate degree at Edinburgh University Medical School and teaches on the Core Skills for Urologists course at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
